What SMBs need most (in a fibre network)

Hear top speaker Marc Bouteyre (Ekinops) about a true challenge for operators. Small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) need good internet connections, but today it's more vital than ever that these connections are also safe. For this, SMBs really rely on the operators. But for operators it's a genuine challenge.

Supporting Service Providers facing the evolving network demands
Marc Bouteyre, Head of Solutions Management, Ekinops

Ekinops is a recent Fitce member, and Marc Bouteyre opens the Innovation & Technology block at the Fitce Fibre Congress. We had an online chat to hear more about the message that he wants to share with us.

He wants to talk about the need for additional functionality on a fibre connection that SMBs feel: safety, cybersecurity.

But for operators, this comes with a challenge:

'It's a real challenge because the big part of the money is not going to connectivity, but to cybersecurity.'

As part ot the introduction, Ivan Born (Sales Account Manager Benelux at Ekinops) explains that the Ekinops team is keen providing a contribution to the Fitce forum and the Congress.

Marc Bouteyre presents himself:

'I'm in charge of the product management globally for all our software solutions,

which is

  • our virtualisation,
  • SD-WAN,
  • cyber security.'

And he asks:

'Did you know that most of the SMB customers are looking to service providers to deliver them on top of network connectivity, cybersecurity solutions?'

He explains:

'The fact is, today, these kind of solutions are quite complex to be addressed by these SMBs themselves.'

Large companies can afford dedicated teams that do nothing but take care of cybersecurity. But SMBs can't.

'So they definitely need a strong partner, which is the service provider, to deliver a comprehensive suite of products, which will first, of course, enable them to use the network, but also to secure their own enterprise in regards of all the cyber risks that we see today.'

It's a part of the role of the service provider to sell the cybersecurity services.

'We also very much value the benefits for such an [operator] organisation.'

It's exactly what Ekinops is doing: offer these services for SMBs via the operators.

On the Fitce Fibre Congress:

'That's a very nice place to meet all the experts of this industry.'

And his colleague Ivan Born on Fitce:

'We also very much value the benefits of such an organisation.'

And Marc Bouteyre concludes:

'I hope to meet you.'
