Terrestrial and space networks support the digitalization of industry and society. Launching satellites is not only for the happy few. FITCE.be presents opportunities for Telecom industry, technical innovation and new use cases.
The recent revolution in satellite launch capabilities is leading to an increasing convergence of the telecom and the satellite industry. Werner Coomans from Nokia Bell Labs will introduce and give an overview of Non-Terrestrial Networks (focusing on satellite networks), covering ongoing industry initiatives, use cases, standardization, and technical characteristics.
BELSPO (Belgian Science Policy Office) manages the Belgian contribution to the ESA (European Space Agency) Programmes. Sophie Pireaux will give an overview to the ESA programmes related to Satellite Telecommunications (ARTES, IRIS², Civil Security from Space) which provide, in particular, co-funding opportunities to projects bringing together space and non-space actors (industries, academics, institutes, private locations…) in the domain of R&D and demonstrations for non-terrestrial Networks.
